Internet has emerged as a "media of communication & expression" and has percolated into each and every nook and corner of our day to day living. The title of the book is motivated by Homer through Ulysses, and in modern times by Arthur Clarke and Stanley Kubrick who immortalized futuristic visions through one of the best movies in that genre - 2001 : A Space Odyssey.

The relatively simplistic non-technical and user-friendly approach adopted in the earlier book by the same author "Internet for Doctors" was appreciated by all. Sales exceeded 20,000 copies and there were several requests from the medical profession as well as other professions to extend the scope to the non-medical arena as well.

The purpose of this book is to open up closed doors for the reader to peek in, and if interested proceed towards exploration. An honest attempt has been made to pack in as much of the author's wide surfing experience as possible and share it with everyone. The book seeks to give a brief overview of the various uses of the Internet towards enhancing productivity, gaining knowledge, improving efficiency, or quite simply just enjoying oneself. The format of the book is aimed more at "exploring" and "discovery" rather than a "hand-held" approach.

Selected sites, both Indian & foreign provide a listing of useful Internet addresses. This helps save time and would be especially useful during cybercafe surfing. Developing familiarity with search engines is easy, but for starters this ready-reference feature is a boon. Further details at www.proman.net/books. The book is available, nationwide, at major bookshops through IBD as well as directly from :
